Tom and I had an exciting announcement for our friends and family last week….
That’s right, our future little Georgia fan has an estimated due date of April 12, 2014! That means right now I’m at about 13 and a half weeks, and feeling pretty good! I can’t believe we are already in the second trimester. The first trimester went pretty well, the only morning sickness I had was just nausea, no vomiting thank goodness, and the nausea I had was was mostly mild. I made a point to eat healthier and workout every day (and some days had a hard time eating anything) so I actually lost about 7 pounds during the first trimester, but the gaining weight started last week. The doctor has restricted what types of workouts I can do now because of some medical issues which is frustrating. I was told to do only very light exercising, so I’ve been taking easy walks, found a yoga studio with prenatal classes that I love, and doing some dance classes but most of those are even too intense. Last week I was hit with extreme tiredness which was a struggle. I was sleeping well all night and still needed a nap almost every day. Thankfully I have several friends who have had babies recently who have been a great help to me – every time I’m freaking out about something I just text one of them which usually puts my nerves at ease. They’ve also given me a good idea of what to expect the next few months and given me good reminders of what I should and should not be eating.
Telling our friends and family was really nerve-racking for me, but everyone was really excited and had great responses. We told some people in person and then we actually used the picture above to make announcements that we mailed out to people, and it was fun to get everyone’s texts and phone calls when they got their announcements in the mail!
We have a great doctor’s office with super high tech ultrasound equipment where we get to work with both a midwife and an OB. We have had several teaching appointments with the Midwife where she goes through what to do, what not to do, etc, which have been super helpful, and for our 12 week appointment we got to have the ultrasound done with the 4D equipment. At that appointment we got to see the baby moving and got to see baby and all of it’s features up close – it was pretty much the coolest thing ever. The doctor was also able to tell us the sex of the baby, which we had already found out through the panorama blood test that they did at 9 weeks, but we are having a gender reveal party so we are keeping it a secret for now 😉
I’ve been super busy with starting a new job, still unpacking and working on the house, renovating our kitchen, and growing a human being. Hopefully once we get some of the house stuff done things will calm down, but that never seems to happen! I’ve also been working on planning a babymoon (we have been looking at bed and breakfasts in St. Augustine), and making a pregnancy chalkboard like all the cute ones on pinterest. That kind of turned into a disaster though when I purchased what I thought was a chalkboard at Homegoods but turned out it wasn’t (?!?) and then I tried to put chalkboard paint on it (well Tom did, the doctor told me not to paint anything) and then that got messy and started peeling. So hopefully I can get that situation figured out soon!
