In some ways the past two weeks have flown by. In other ways they’ve been an incredibly long two weeks. They have been both amazing and incredibly challenging. Between the sweet, sweet cuddles we have shared with Maddie Grace to the sleepless nights and hour long screaming sessions, which usually end in both of us crying, these two weeks have easily been the best of my life.
It amazes me how quickly Maddie Grace is growing. She is already over a pound heavier than she was at birth and she is gaining about two ounces a day. Nursing is still going well and it’s really special to see that she has gained so much weight just from what I am able to provide her. Maddie seems very long – a lot of her clothes I can’t get to snap but her limbs don’t come close to filling out the holes for them, although she has plenty of chunk on her.
Maddie is still rather nocturnal. She prefers to sleep all day and party all night, and even during the day she is very alert much of the time. Everyone keeps telling me to sleep when baby sleeps, but that is hard when it is only select hours during the day.
I love seeing how Maddie Grace advances and grows every day. I can tell that her eyesight and focus is improving. Earlier today while in her carseat she put her little hands one on top of the other in such an adult way, and then while cuddling with me she wrapped her arm across me in a way that she had never done before. As much as I love laying around cuddling with her, I am also looking forward to when we can get out of the house more and have play dates.
We are having newborn pictures done on Saturday, which also happens to be my birthday (stay tuned for an amazing baby themed giveaway that will start on my birthday). Any suggestions for a successful newborn shoot?
