This past weekend was one that always is one of my favorites of the year. It was the Savannah Rock N’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon! {If you follow me on Instagram, and why wouldn’t you, then you probably saw some pictures of how ridiculous parts of our weekend were.} Tom has run it every year since it started 4 years ago, and I ran the first 2 years, but last year couldn’t because I was pregnant and this year I knew I wasn’t going to be able to adequately train so I didn’t sign up for it.
Tom took the day off from work Friday so that we could get down there in time for him to pick up his number. Usually I love expos but this expo was crazy crowded which made it no fun, so we left and met up with friends for some dinner at a new spot downtown.
Saturday we were up bright and early to drop Daddy off for his race! MG and I went to a friends’ place to finish getting ready and hang out while he ran. Our plan was to be at the finish line waiting for him. Unfortunately, I forgot how quickly (sarcasm) my friends move that early in the morning so we were a little bit late and missed him – I felt so bad! Maddie Grace wore her “Daddy rocks” onesie that we picked up at the Expo for the run last year and it was pretty much the cutest thing ever. Once we found daddy we hung out in Forsyth Park, had some celebratory mimosas, and listened to the bands play. The headliner this year was Phillip Phillips, who Tom and I both love. There’s not much better than being with your family and friends listening to good live music outdoors. Next on our agenda was watching the UGA game, so we went to the same restaurant as the night before which had a great outdoor patio and had some lunch and watched the game. Afterwards we headed back to my dad’s house to spend time with him.
Sunday was full of more Grandpa time followed by stopping at a restaurant one of my best friend’s opened in May to say hello, and then the exciting ride home. Luckily MG does amazing on car rides and sleeps the whole time.
We are already missing Savannah, Grandpa, and all of our friends in Savannah. But I guess it’s okay because guess what? We will be back in less than two weeks, and then again two weeks after that. Lots of road trippin’ in our near future but it’s totally worth it.
Our week is already off and running! I thought we had nothing on our plate for the week but I guess I was wrong since this is the first chance I’ve had today to sit down and write this. I mean, I haven’t even unpacked yet, have a zillion emails to respond to, and other random things that I must get done tonight.
Now tell me – how was your weekend? Anything exciting?
Gahhh! That last picture is ADORABLE!
My hubs runs marathons too. I do not. lol. They're really fun to attend though. I love bringing the kids and I hope they remember it when they're older.
Thanks haha I'm pretty sure she's asking me where her food is! They are SO fun!
I can not get over how cute your mini is! <3
Thanks Ashley! The feeling is mutual 🙂
Oh my gosh… as I'm going through your pictures I'm thinking to myself, they look so familiar! I KNOW I've seen THAT picture! Bahaha! I'm a regular stalker on your Instagram but somehow missed the fact that you have a blog?! So glad I found it this morning!!
A HUGE congrats to your hubs for running this race again! Hope you two can do it together next year! This sounds like such a fun one to participate in!
YAY! You are one of my Instagram faves! Thank you we love doing races together, I hope one day I can be a runner again!
MG is seriously adorable!! The last pic is my fave! I hope next year to run Savannah, do you think you'll do it again?
Thank you! You should! I honestly don't know… I'd love to do it again but now with having a child and hopefully eventually more than just one I'm not sure when I'll be able to really train!
