The first few months went by slowly. I think we were in a time warp – sleeping less than we ever had before and adjusting to a completely new and different way of life. Now each month just goes faster and faster. Maddie Grace turned 6 months, I blinked, and now here we are well into the 7th month of her life. The mommy ache is real y’all.
Sorry I couldn’t resist putting Maddie Grace in her Thanksgiving dress that I found on sale earlier this week. Also note that she has more hair coming in. Not much but a little – finally!
When people told me around this age every day she would do something new I didn’t believe them. Now I do. Every single day she does something new or different and completely amazes me. I may be a little bit biased, but I’m pretty sure my child is a genius.
I love the different faces she makes.
One day this week she started playing peek a boo with a blanket, pulling it up over her head, waiting of one of us to say “where did Maddie Grace go?” and then pulling it down and laughing hysterically. Another day she tried to pull herself up to standing using her changing table, although she fell and almost hit her head.
At some point during the last month Maddie Grace started crawling and now she is crawling everywhere and is into everything. She mostly army crawls but has done real crawling on her hands and knees, but she always drops down to her belly when she realizes that she can move a lot faster that way. We really need to get a playpen to keep her crawling area confined though because girlfriend is trouble. She likes to pull down books, pull down movies, get in the cat toys, and pick up every little thing she finds and puts it in her mouth.
MG is very advanced with eating. Like really advanced – I’m pretty sure. She loves to eat and so far hasn’t shown signs of disliking any of the foods we’ve tried with her; we’ve tried a lot because she’s started grabbing at all the foods we have. We are still doing a mix of purees and baby led weaning, leaning more towards the baby led weaning now as it seems to be what she prefers. Tonight she ate chicken pieces and baked zucchini for dinner, she had baked apple and pear pieces for lunch along with her puffs, and applesauce for breakfast.
We’ve really loved spending the warmer days at the park that is close to our house. It’s usually pretty quiet, has a gorgeous lake, and lots of geese that MG likes to watch. Another thing she has loved this month is playing with other babies. She will crawl up to them, touch them, smile at them – it’s pretty adorable.
Maddie Grace still is not a fan of napping, or sleeping in general. This means our days can be long and exhausting. The quote “The days are long but the years are short.” is so true – somehow no matter how long our days are time is flying.
It has been very cold here the past week, the coldest MG has ever felt, so we have been hanging out in our jammies a lot. These ones remind me of warmer weather with their bright colors and the bunny. These are surprisingly soft and MG seems very comfy in them. Hats aren’t really her thing right now though so this one came off pretty quickly.
I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week already and then it all only be a couple of weeks until I’m writing an 8 month post. Any tips for how to make time slow down? Next week will be the debut of my first ever gift guides with amazing giveaways so stay tuned!
