Play dates can be kind of hit or miss, am I right? I mean they can go great or you can have a panic attack because your child is a screaming disaster. Not to mention other scary things that can come from kids coming in contact with one another. Here are some things to take along to ensure that your play dates go well:
-
Plenty of Snacks and a Sippy Cup
I booked multiple playdates on one day last week, meaning we were gone from home for a significant amount of time, and forgot snacks. I mean any snacks. And we weren’t going places where it would be easy to buy snacks. Whoops. Maddie Grace was not happy… at all. Don’t do this – always have multiple snacks on hand, enough to cover a full meal if need be, to ensure a happy and calm baby.
(2) Make Sure Naptime Happens Before You Go
Never go to a play date with a baby over 6 months unless they have a nap immediately before they go. A cranky baby makes for a cranky mama and that’s not fun for anyone.
(3) Your Phone Charger
If you’re like me 95% of the time your phone is dead or dying. Reasons you may want your phone alive? Emergency phone call, cute pictures, directions, etc. You may want to buy an extra charger just to keep in your diaper bag or car.
(4) Plenty of Toys
Sure play dates under the age of one are really more for mama than for baby, but your baby is still going to need to be entertained. Make sure you bring little toys for them to play with and a few so they don’t get bored, and so you can share with their friends who may forget!
(5) Ester C
This one is all about mama. I keep Ester-C in my diaper bag so it is always with me in case I forget to take it on busy mornings. I love the immune support and their non-acidic formula means it’s gentle on my stomach.
So make sure you take Ester C on the days you are going to play dates and every day for that matter to keep your immune system at its finest. You really don’t have time not to. Ester C is a chemical solvent-free supplement that supports your health and helps keep you from having to slow down this time of year.
Now you tell me – what are your play date necessities?
One of the few times I've had a play date I got so freaked out by the kid who was grabbing at my kid that it will be a while before I have another one! Some babies, unlike mine, don't understand space bubbles. I think she was just as freaked out as I was!
Yes to Ester-C! haha Mamas need all the help and energy boost they can get!
We do a lot of play dates here, thanks for the tips on making them go a little smoother!
Nap time before you go… SPOT ON. That's basically for anything I plan on doing.
