I’m still in disbelief that Christmas is next week. How did that happen? Where did the last month go? How in the world are we going to be ready for a new baby in just another month? These are the thoughts going through my mind right now…
I haven’t been doing a lot of life posts lately because, well, we haven’t been doing much. Maddie Grace had a nasty cough the last week and I wanted to keep her from spreading it so I kept her at home a lot and cancelled all play dates last week and the beginning of this week. Remarkably, it seems everyone else managed to get her cough without even being around her so whatever this is that is going around must be strong!
We spent the weekend trying to do more around the house – the furniture I ordered finally has started arriving and now it’s just a matter of getting the furniture set up and then the rooms ready to go. This weekend we focused on throwing away a TON of stuff and cleaning out the closet of Maddie Grace’s new room, which used to be the office and was completely full of junk. We got a lot done but it still seems like we have a long ways to go – not sure we are ever going to finish this! Thank goodness Tom gets off from work between Christmas and New Years Day and we will be spending all that time to really finish up these projects. Hopefully. I can’t wait to get Maddie Grace’s room done and the new decorations up in the nursery and share some pictures because so far it’s coming together well. I found a cute comforter on sale at Pottery Barn for a crazy good deal, we have all her grey furniture, the walls are a pretty dusty rose, and I’ll just have to figure out some finishing touches after that. For the nursery we are sticking with a nautical theme and have pretty much everything we need from shower gifts!
Friday night we managed to actually get out of the house some for Tom’s work Christmas party. We haven’t gone out together without Maddie Grace in a really, really long time – it was much needed. We had a fun night of socializing, and eating good food.
So yes, I’m somewhere right around 35 weeks pregnant at this point and getting bigger every day. I mean there’s no more room in there for unnamed baby boy. He’s always stretching against my stomach and it’s not comfortable. Luckily I’ve been feeling a little better the last couple of days and have been taking medicine that seems to help for the heartburn and my back is even hurting less now. I’ve been unbelievably tired, yet have a terrible time sleeping. Pregnancy insomnia just isn’t even fair. But hey, this all could be a lot worse. Overall I’m incredibly blessed to be able to carry a baby and to not have any serious complications/symptoms so I’ll just appreciate that for now.
Dressing the bump has been an issue. Even some of my maternity clothes aren’t fitting great lately, and it seems very silly to buy any maternity clothes with only a handful of weeks left in this pregnancy. Yikes. I’m glad that I’ve come across La Belle Bump – a service that allows you to rent high-end maternity clothes. The service costs $99 a month and you get sent 5 pieces at a time to try on at home and wear if you love them, and if you don’t send them back and you’ll get another piece on loan – you can switch them out as often as you like during the month. The send you pieces based off your style profile too and you can let them know if there is anything in particular that you are looking for. If you hate spending money on maternity clothes I highly recommend the service – the top in the first picture of this post and the above picture were in my box and I adore them and having some variety to my wardrobe right now!
We already had one Christmas celebration with Tom’s family as we won’t be seeing them again until after Christmas. Let’s just say that Maddie Grace is a very lucky girl with a lot of grandparents who love to spoil her – and she’s got plenty of toys right now that she’s obsessed with! She keeps trying to bake ice cream though with her new kitchen set, not sure if she quite understands what happens when ice cream goes in the oven. And she’s a little confused by the phone with the set since it’s not an iPhone and hangs on the wall. But that ends up in the oven as well.
So I hope all of you are more prepared for Christmas next week than I am. I still have several presents to order, and need to figure out what food I’ll be preparing for the big day since I’m hosting. Being 36 weeks pregnant justifies picking up dinner from somewhere the day before, right?
Oh girl, you're having Christmas while you're that pregnant?! Bless you! I barely made it to Christmas festivities at that stage haha. But if you feel as fabulous as you look that explains everything 🙂
It's only my dad coming so it shouldn't be too bad 😉 And I've informed everyone I'm just picking up food and they can deal with it!
I'm ALMOST done with Christmas Shopping but I still feel so behind with it being next week! I'm with you, how did that happen!?
Every single year it sneaks up!
You have the cutest family! Looks like life is going well! 🙂 -Cianna (LaMode365)
Thank you 🙂
You look great and I also can't believe Christmas is next week, but I am excited though. Your daughter is so adorable!
Thank you! I can't believe how fast it's come either!
Oh man… you're pictures are giving me crazy baby fever! Stop it! Haha! Also… it's so weird to see a picture with sandals and Christmas decorations. That would never happen here in the frozen tundra of Minneapolis. 🙂
Haha baby fever is a good thing! I know! So weird that it happened here, then got really cold, then supposed to be upper 70's again on Christmas!
