On Sunday, Tom and I had a moment. I looked at him and said “things feel like they’re getting back to normal” and he agreed. After a month of newborn daze this felt like a normal family weekend for us. And that’s good, I think… it’s sad that the newborn phase is flying by, as it tends to do, but it felt really good to get out of the house this weekend and feel like we were our old selves again just with one more kid. It does take us forever to get out of the house but it feels good to do it.
Friday we did our normal Friday night activities: go out to eat, get bubble tea, watch shark tank, and go to bed as early as is possible. Our outfits here are all from Rosie Pope. I knew Rosie Pope offered adorable maternity clothes, and was excited to see that they also have nursing and children’s clothing! This nursing sweater is my favorite – the buttons offer an easy and discreet way to nurse when out and about. It’s so soft and comfortable. The baby clothes are ridiculously adorable and have the cutest prints as well – I love dressing Tripp and Maddie Grace in them!
Saturday was also exciting – one of Tom’s best friends had a baby boy just 2 weeks before we had Tripp and we met them at a shopping center in between where we both live so that the boys could meet! Some of our other friends came as well and we hung out and grabbed an early dinner. I think this might be what made it feel more like a normal weekend as this was really the first time we got out of the house to meet friends.
Maddie Grace loves the play place at the shopping center we were at. We were also both excited that it was warm enough for her to wear her new Miki Miette outfit – I am swooning over their whole line of spring style for little ones. So cute and comfortable, really just the perfect outfits for toddlers. I think Maddie Grace will be wearing this all the time come spring! And the rainboots from Robeez are the first rainboots we’ve tries that stay on her feet and they are beyond adorable.
Sunday I actually left both Tripp and Maddie Grace ALONE with Tom so I could go to a birthday lunch for a friend. It was his first time taking on two kids by himself and shockingly everyone survived. In fact everything went pretty well. We wanted to spend the afternoon doing a nice hike somewhere but it started pouring rain so that was a fail! We ended the weekend by meeting up with some friends at the restaurant they own so they could meet Maddie Grace and my brother joined us as well.
All in all it was a really nice weekend – quality time with my favorite crew and we got to see several friends which we always enjoy. Now we are counting down the days until Tom’s birthday (on Saturday) and I’m starting to worry about what to do to make it special for him!

Good to hear. It's hard to get your life back with a newborn. Once you do, it's such a wonderful feeling of freedom. I remember it was easier to take our daughter out when she was really little because she slept a lot. It was when she got older that we had to adjust again.
It looks like you had a great weekend! I'm glad you are al getting settled! Your outfits are adorable!
Thank you Logan!!!
Awe. I love all the pictures. Such a beautiful family, and great outfits. So nice you were able to meet friends.
Thank you 🙂
I completely understand how hard it is to get back into things after a new baby comes. I have a 4 year old and 5 month old, and it's definitely difficult to get out of the house, but very much needed. Love the nursing sweater you have. If it were cooler here in Miami I'd definitely get one. Having something easy to nurse in is a must when leaving home.
Hooray for things getting back to normal and out of the newborn baby funk! And good for you for getting out of the house. Looked like a gorgeous weekend to be out and about.
So stinkin' sweet! It's always changing and I still don't feel normal sometimes haha but you learn to adjust! Glad you got out of the house… adorable kiddos, mama!
Thank you 🙂
Awww that looks like a fun weekend. Getting out of the house ALWAYS helps make things feel normal!
How sweet <3 I am missing the baby days so much lately since my girl just turned one!! It looks like you guys had a blast!
We got pregnant with #2 right after my daughter's first birthday! Great time to have another haha!
The newborn phase goes so quickly. My daughter is 4 months and I feel like I blinked and missed it. It's so wonderful though being able to settle back into the swing of things.
It does! But it's SO fun when they get bigger too!
Such a beautiful family!
Thanks dear!
