Road trips with two kids are… unpleasant. Let’s start with that. With no kids a drive from Atlanta to Savannah can be done in 3 and a half hours. With one kid that becomes 4 and a half hours. With two kids it’s going to be about 8 depending on how much time you spend on the side of the road crying and saying that you give up. I’m ecstatic about our trip to Orlando in a couple weeks, but now I’m really dreading the drive. Hopefully we remember to charge the iPad before we leave and we are debating driving overnight and crossing our fingers that means the kids both sleep in the car the whole time.

But this weekend was the first time we packed up the kids and headed anywhere farther than a 45 minute drive away. It was so nice to make it back to Savannah and the trip was totally worth the terrible drive. We actually were able to drive down Thursday night and Tom worked from his firms Savannah office on Friday, meaning I got to sit around my dads house without a car all day Friday while both my dad and Tom worked and try to make sure Maddie Grace didn’t completely destroy my dads house. But since we were already there we were able to go to an art auction that my dad has been working on for a while. It was pouring rain that night but we had a great time – it was a really interesting art show with a Flannery O’Connor ‘Southern Discomforts’ theme. We ended up buying a couple of pieces (our house is really lacking art so we are trying to start collecting some) that I think will look really nice in our home.
Saturday we mostly spent with my dad hanging out at his house. We did make it to downtown Savannah for a little bit, and then headed to a baby shower for one of my good friends Christine who blogs over at Hello Greyson. It was so nice to catch up with my friends from high school who were there and shower the sweetest parents to be with all kinds of baby cuteness!
And let’s pause here to talk about this dress that I wore Saturday which is from Boob Design (great name, right?). It’s adorable, super soft and comfy… and has an overlay that lifts up for discreet breastfeeding. Dresses that are breastfeeding friendly are hard to come across. Cute dresses that are breastfeeding friendly are nearly impossible to find. I seriously am going to live in this dress all spring and summer. I got a ton of compliments on it, and each time I then showed people how it was a nursing dress and their minds were blown. Check out Boob Nursing for all kinds of cute nursing apparel!
Sunday we were intent on having a beach day and it was the perfect day to be out there. Sunny, low 70’s – it was just gorgeous.
And now off to a crazy week! We are getting ready for MG’s birthday party Saturday, and then the next weekend we leave for Disney so there is lots to do! I also decided yesterday that there really needed to be a new parenting facebook group… so I made one. Called Casual Parenting. It’s a place to share funny things you see, ask questions, or just vent! Come join us as there will be a giveaway going on over there later today!

I love this! && your baby is the cutest!!
Sounds like a fun trip… after a terrible drive! Nothing worse than suffering to get there, only to have a difficult time at your destination!
I don’t have kids but I bet that dress would be amazing for when I do!
