Oh summer… heat, humidity, harmful chemicals of the pool, drying salt of the ocean… it can take a seriously toll on your skin! And of course my family is obsessed with doing things that aren’t great for our skin because it is scorching here in Atlanta. That’s why it’s extra important to take care of your skin during these warm months! So here are my top tips for keeping your skin hydrated, fresh, and healthy:
Drink up. Make sure you are getting plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated. My goal every day is 8 8 ounce glasses of water!
Use a quality body wash. One that is hydrating and refreshing at once! And that doesn’t mean spending a fortune. My favorite body washes for the summer months are made by Suave Essentials – I mean the Ocean Breeze one just smells like summer. It’s amazing!
Load up on SPF. Skin cancer is for real and I want to make sure I take the necessary steps to try to avoid it. Therefore I use sunscreen (although I try to find the ones that are as nontoxic as possible) on myself and my children every day that we are outside. Don’t forget to reapply it every couple of hours! I also make sure to always wear a makeup and moisturizer with SPF in it on days I know we will be outside.
Treat sunburns. I love having an aloe plant in our yard to use on any and all sunburns that pop up over the summer in our family. I especially love the way Suave Essentials Cucumber Agave Smash Body Wash feels on burns. It combines the refreshing elixir of cool cucumber and sweet agave with a touch of dewy rose.
Spritzes. Toner spritzes that you spray on your body are a great way to add some extra hydration to your skin over the summer. There are plenty you can purchase at the store or make your own with rose water and geranium essential oil!
Wash off the chemicals or salt! Yes the pool is fabulous on hot summer days, especially if you are a mom of young children. But jump in the shower as soon as you are done to get them off of your skin. Same goes with the salt of the ocean. We are huge fans of the beach, but not the effect salt has on our skin, so wash it off ASAP! Suave body washes are a great way to refresh and get clean after a hot day at the pool or beach!
Sport a hat. It won’t keep your whole body shaded but will protect your extra sensitive face from the sun!
Exfoliate! Exfoliators are a great way to remove the dry and dead skin all over your body. Then just wash off the exfoliator with some Suave Essentialsbody wash for a total spa experience – my favorite body wash for pampering is the Suave Essentials Creamy Cocoa Butter & Shea Body Wash!
Eat your fruits. Eating healthy results in better skin – healthy on the inside, healthy on the outside! Fruits are a great way to refresh on hot days and ones high in antioxidants can add extra hydration to your body.
So jump start your summer skin routine with one of the amazing scents of Suave Essentials body wash! These are body washes that your whole family will love and that you’ll find for an amazing price. Smell and feel good, fresh, and clean, every day!

Exfoliating and fruits. Those are the two I need to work on. I try to exfoliate when I can, but most times I just brush it off and think, oh well, do it tomorrow. I know how great it feels afterwards though so I need to do it more often.
Yes same here!
