We pretty much live at our neighborhood pool over the summer. I would love to put a pool in our back yard but I haven’t gotten my husband on board with that idea yet. Our pool is open until memorial day (thank goodness with how hot it is now) and I’m so glad it’s open for a few weeks after school starts back when it isn’t as crowded! Anyways I’ve rounded up our favorite products for hitting up the pool with both a baby and a toddler, which can be quite the challenge, all of which I picked up on a trip to buybuy BABY, where you can seriously find anything you are looking for. Here are my must haves:
Puddle Jumper – Puddle Jumpers are great for bigger toddlers. We tried one with Maddie Grace last summer when she was just over a year and she basically fell out of it every time. This summer it’s been amazing though! We put her in the puddle jumper and she just swims off like a little fish. It’s great for getting her used to being on her own in the water and she’s really learning how to kick her legs and using her arms to get places in the pool. When she wants to go to the pool she just grabs ‘pink elephant’ to let me know she’s ready!
Baby Float – The baby float is another genius invention. Baby Tripp used to hate the water but seems to have had a change of heart and is loving the pool lately. This float gives him something to hang out in and features a UV sun shade, and toys for Tripp to play with (and chew on). It’s a great way to introduce him to the water and make it fun!
Swim Diapers – For the longest time we only used reusable swim diapers. They hold in any messes better than disposable ones and don’t swell up like some of the disposable ones do. We love the i play ones for both kids which come in a lot of fun patterns. Some days though I don’t have any clean swim diapers and we are running to the splash pad or pool and I just grab disposable ones. The best disposable ones I’ve found are the Huggies Little Swimmers. I buy the medium size and can adjust them to fit both of the kids!
Toys – We never hit up the pool without toys with us. Without them the toddler would get bored in 5 minutes. Her favorite things are these Melissa and Doug Jellyfish that Maddie Grace likes to throw and make us catch, and play with on the side of the pool. Also if you follow me on snap chat you’ve seen Maddie Grace’s obsession with this tea pot set that she carries around with her EVERYWHERE. She packs it up in her purse every time we head to the pool and plays with it on the pool steps. It’s a must have for any toddler. We have tea parties all day every day it it will keep her occupied for hours!
Sunscreen – I’ve really been conscious lately about chemicals and what types of products we use on our family. A friend who I consider a professional at this stuff recommended Badger Sunscreen. It’s safe, effective natural/organic, and it smells amazing. It’s the best, seriously.
So there you have it – everything to make your sunny pool days as fun as possible if you have little ones in tow with goodies available at buybuy BABY! I would love to hear if you have any pool favorites that I forgot to add here below!
*Thank you buybuy BABY for sponsoring this post! I love being a part of the #babyhood network – regardless all thoughts and opinions are my own and I only recommend products I truly love.
These are some of our favorites too!!
I absolutely LOVE the puddle jumpers. We have one for each of our kids and I recommend them to everyone who has younger kids still learning to swim.
