If you’re anything like me, it can be hard to travel without gaining weight. We are currently on a trip to Europe but with another beach trip a few weeks after this trip I’ve been determined to eat balanced and exercise during this trip. Part of traveling is tasting the local cuisine and eating out, but you can do that and eat balanced!
One thing that is big for our family is to always try to stay somewhere that has a kitchen so we can cook some meals ourselves, but still eat out for others. I love exploring grocery stores in other countries, seeing what they have and picking out locally grown food – it’s a great way to really immerse yourself in another country and their culture. And doing that means I can cook foods that are what I want me and my family to be eating, and can stock up on fresh fruits, vegetables, and most importantly make sure we are getting enough protein! Research suggests that eating protein throughout the day helps you from getting hungry in between meals and diets that incorporate high-quality protein, like beef, throughout the day can help you maintain a healthy weight, build strong, lean, bodies, and help keep energy levels up!
So call me crazy but right before we left for our trip I decided to take on an eating challenge that started during our trip, knowing it would help me keep my goals for staying in shape for our next trip. From September 24th to October 24th I’m participating in the 30 day protein challenge! The plan helps you figure out how much protein to eat when, how to balance your meals, and keeps track of your food, hunger, and moods, to see how diet effects your overall well-being. You also get goals, inspiration, and tips for staying on track! Want to join me? Find everything you need to get started here and make sure you share your progress with the hashtag #ProteinChallenge!
Need help getting started? Check out this delicious recipe for tenderloin, cranberry, and pear salad with honey mustard dressing. I’m drooling looking at it! One night here in Germany we made spaghetti using fresh beef and veggies and it turned out so delicious and was a great experience!
Join us for a Twitter party on Thursday, October 20th, at 1 p.m. ET using #proteinchallenge – we are going to talk about quick and protein-rich meals and snacks, and more details about the challenge! You can go ahead and RSVP for the Twitter party here!
What ways do you add in protein throughout the day?
This post is brought to you by The Beef Checkoff and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
I always start my day with a protein shake and then I try to have higher protein snacks to keep me from overeating! I love almonds and peanut butter!
Love seeing all of your travel photos! I should probably look into this protein challenge so that I can get this baby weight off once and for all!
