Tripp,
I watched you play tonight and thought about how lucky I am and how crazy it is that you are mine, the same thoughts I had watching you a year ago tonight right after you were born. You’ve been the best baby a mom could imagine. As a newborn you were easygoing and slept most of the time. As you’ve grown you’ve stayed easygoing and although you sleep less during the day but are still an awesome sleeper at night. Your whole life everyone has remarked on how happy you are. Always smiling, always laughing. You will even bang your head on something and just keep crawling like nothing happened.
You seem to learn something new every day and it amazes me and my heart swells with pride for. You aren’t walking yet but so good at standing up by yourself and cruise along with anything you can push. You can climb to the top of the stairs and could beat anyone in a crawling race. You say so many words. Blast off, mama, dada, banana, and thank you are what we hear you say most often. and you also know most of your animal noises. You point to where you want to go or whatever you want us to do. You are obsessed with shoes and always grab yours and try to pull them on your feet, and look up at me and give me that big toothy smile of yours when you do.
And you have to be the sweetest boy to have ever existed. You love to hug and kiss stuffed animals and your Pierre doll and snuggle with them as you sleep. You also love to snuggle up with people and other babies. It’s really cute when you go and lay your head on your sisters lap and she starts stroking your head. You give me lots of big kisses and will even grab my head with your little hands to pull me in for a big kiss. And as much as you love your mama, you and your daddy have a special bond. The second he walks into a room you reach for him to pull you up and yell “dada!!!”
I hope that your sweet and loving personality never changes. I pray that you grow into a man who can stand up for what is right and loves other people. That you love to learn and that you are a leader. That you continue to prefer reading and building things over watching TV. But also that you always light up when you see Mickey Mouse. Most of all I just hope for your safety and happiness. Know that your parents will always be here for you. The only way you’ll ever understand the love and joy that you’ve brought to our family is when you have kids of your own. Thank you for being the best son a mama could want and as sad as I am that you won’t be a baby much longer watching you grow up makes me so indescribably happy. I love you to the moon and back.
Happy birthday Tripp/Bubby!
