I love having craft time ready for me and Maddie Grace when she gets home from school. And of course I like to stick with seasonal themes. Right now everything in our house is Valentine’s Day, and I know that’s what they are focusing on at school as well so I wanted something different that she could really participate in. We do so much painting and glue is always too big of a mess, so I settled on cereal heart bird feeders. This turned out to be a great fun and easy craft with little to no cleanup, perfect for doing with any preschool or elementary school aged child! Anyone who knows Maddie Grace knows that she is an animal lover so she really enjoyed talking about birds while we made these and even kept running around with held up high yelling “come here birds, I have food for you!” I’m not even sure that birds will come eat them, but it was still a fun craft that we enjoyed.
To do this I picked up supplies at Kroger while also getting our groceries for the week. I grabbed the Kroger brand Fruit Rings cereal so that we could also talk about colors while making this craft, and some pipe cleaners. Fun fact they are by all the smoking stuff, not in the school supplies section. That’s seriously all you need for this. And you and the kids can eat the rest of the fruit rings after you’re done crafting. It’s perfect.
So to start since these pipe cleaners were shorter than crafting ones I twisted the tops together and then started stringing rings onto them. Maddie Grace loved putting the rings on herself and I was surprised that Tripp even started trying to put the rings on a pipe cleaner too! Although when he got frustrated he just started eating them. Then we just shaped them into hearts, tied off the ends of the pipe cleaner to complete the heart, and then used another pipe cleaner to the middle of the top of the heart. I think all of us had a lot of fun making these and made some great memories!
Have you done any Valentine’s crafts with your kids this year? Would love to hear about them below!

What an adorable little craft! So cute, easy, and fun!
Oh my goodness! How cute are these!!! I will totally be doing these today (or tomorrow) with my kids!
this is SUCH a cute idea and so perfect for Valentine’s Day! however, I would probably eat most of the fruit loops myself.
This is the cutest idea! My kids would love it!
What a cute idea!! I have so much stale cereal, we should do this.
