Okay I know Valentine’s Day is just about 2 weeks away so it’s a little early to be going ahead and making these Valentines, but I wanted to go ahead and try my hand at a cute Valentines candy idea I got: candy sushi and see whether I could say it’s a great idea to try out or a Pinterest fail. Not going to lie, the first few I tried ended up getting eaten by the kids because they did not turn out well, but then I started getting the hang of it and it was easy going from there! I think doing candy sushi valentines for Maddie Grace to hand out at school is something different and unique that will be really fun for the kids in her class!
I made my own rice cereal treats for the purpose of rolling into sushi rolls easier using a large bag of mini marshmallows and rice cereal with just about 2 tablespoons of butter added in as well. So I rolled sour fruit snacks in the middle of the rice cereal treats and wrapped them with fruit roll-ups. These were somewhat difficult to make. For the others I just used a rectangle of the treats topped with a small strip of the fruit roll ups and then a swedish fish on top!
And of course I needed the perfect card to pair with my candy sushi! And anytime I need perfect stationary I turn to my friends over at Minted. And these ‘I Like the Way You Roll’ Sushi Valentines are serious perfection. And you can customize them! I just did Maddie Grace’s name on the front and a tic tac toe board on the back but you can also put a picture of your kid on the back which would be super cute. And of course I had to get the custom sushi stickers that match the cards. I put the sushi in clear bags so that you could see them through it and secured it with a card and sticker. I think they turned out great and am so excited to send them to school with Maddie Grace!
Have you been thinking about Valentine’s cards for your kids? What are you planning on doing?
Thank you Minted for supplying the stationary for this post!
