Saving Over Spending

One of my biggest resolutions for 2017 is to save more, and spend less. As a busy mom and blogger sometimes this can be hard. Of course we all want the best for our kids and to keep up with our friends, we want to be social, and it seems like most of the things my family really enjoys ends up costing money. So in order to start off 2017 on the right foot, Tom and I had to sit down and figure out where we could easily cut costs. The biggest things on our list included cutting going out to eat, and finding ways to save on our weekly grocery shopping so we could cut down that budget.

And that’s where something really cool that I want to share with all of you comes into play. It’s an app called Flipp, a shopping tool that is designed to save you money on grocery shopping. It’s totally free to use, and really easy to figure out, and definitely a must-have for every busy mom out there. Using the Flipp app, you can easily browse the flyers of your favorite stores, and clip digital coupons for those favorite must-have items. With Flipp, I can add my shopping list and then the app generates the best deals from nearby circulars that are unique to the items on my list.

Using my phone, I can even take a picture of a handwritten shopping list, upload it to Flipp and the app transcribes! It’s been completely accurate every time I’ve tried using it to transcribe a list for me and I love that when I look at my shopping list, tap on avocados, I found that one of my preferred grocery stores had them on sale, 2 for $1, which is amazing! I can sync my shopping list with Tom to make sure we know when one another has updated it or crossed something off. Flipp even has a feature called Store Mode, that rearranges my disorganized list to help plan my in-store route by aisle, which helps me to shop efficiently.  I saved a total of $20 on my shopping trip to stock up for Tripp’s birthday party using this app, which is outstanding!

And what’s awesome is that this app works on more than just grocery trips. Flipp brings you deals from other retailers including Macy’s, Target, Toys “R” Us and much more. So if there is something special you are looking for, say a certain princess castle I’ve been trying to get for my daughter, I just searched for the item on the app and was able to see that Target had it for the lowest price. Now, that’s smart shopping!
