I’ll be honest – the last few years I haven’t done much to decorate for the holidays at all. But for some reason being in this new house has me obsessed with all things home decor. And I mean up all night searching for the perfect accent pieces type of obsessed. So this year my decorations (minus the tree because we always do a live one) are up before Thanksgiving. And because we are on a tight budget this year, everything I found was very reasonably priced. I even searched all over for the perfect advent calendar and ended up finding it for under $20 after using coupons which if you follow my Instagram stories you know I was very excited about!
I’ve got several other finds I’m really excited about. The one the kids like the most is the Letters to Santa box from the new Hearth & Hand line at Target. They both keep writing letters to Santa and shoving them in there. We’ve already emptied it out several times! I love that it entertains them and is aesthetically appeasing. It’s a piece we will use for years and years and years to come! I also am really excited about the “peace” stocking holders that I hung our new Hearth & Hand stockings on. A friend of mine posted about ones that look very similar but are more expensive at a different store. These ones are perfect and come in a shiny silver color as well. In fact several people on Instagram told me to take them back for the silver but the matte black ones really spoke to me even if they blend in to the TV. They stand out when the TV is on so maybe we will just keep it on all the time! I also realized I needed to trade out the white flowers in a vase I have on our fireplace and wasn’t sure what to put in there. Then I found these gorgeous stem branches at Crate & Barrel that work perfectly. To dress up the piano a little bit I added a pretty garland on top of it as well. And last but not least to have the perfect holiday smell I purchased the sugared birch Hearth & Hand candles and they are amazing. I wish you could smell them through these pictures. And they are the type that smell good even when not burning!
As I said we don’t have our tree yet because we are waiting for a live one, but a big internal debate I’ve been having this year is tree collar or tree skirt. There are cute ones of both at Target but after going back and forth a while I settled on the skirt. For some reason the metal gives me kind of a cold feel and I really want a warm and inviting Christmas tree. And my cat always love taking naps on the tree skirt . I also already bought the perfect star topper for our tree because Maddie Grace keeps asking about the star on the tree. I can’t wait to get it up – planning to do that as soon as we are home from our Thanksgiving trip! Once we get our tree up I’m coming back to this post and updating it with more pictures!
My favorite places to shop for holiday decor? Target (especially the Hearth & Home line), Wayfair, World Market, T.J. Maxx, terrain, and Crate & Barrel. And my favorites of the season? Here ya go:
