A couple of years ago I started to become really concerned with what chemicals we use around our house and where our products came from, what they were made of, how good they were for the environment, etc. We did this for a variety of reasons really, but mainly my children and wanting to do what is best for them and their health in the future. But also for my husband and myself. Tom wasn’t really totally on board, in fact it made him cringe to see me throw away so much stuff, but over time he has come around. Mostly. At least on the ones that are super easy for us to switch out and don’t end up costing us an arm and a leg to buy the natural over our ‘old’ version of the product. Here are 5 products that you can easily make the switch on but that make a big impact:
Shampoo/Conditioner
And I’m super picky with my haircare! I’ve switched from using pricey salon products to using the Everyone™ Balance shampoo and conditioner and my hair seriously looks better than ever! These are made with plant-based, organic, and natural ingredients and 100% pure essential oils, and are sulfate and paraben free which is really important to me. I use the Balance line because it helps regulate my super oily hair and leaves it soft and looking great. You’ll find Everyone products at Walmart!
Hand Soap
In our house this is the most commonly used product on this list so it’s an important and super easy one to change out! I use a castile soap with lavender essential oil because it goes a long ways and smells amazing.
All Purpose Cleaner
I haven’t managed to switch out all of the cleaners I use around the house yet (working on it though) but since all purpose cleaner is what we use most frequently that was an easy one to change and feel good about! I want the surfaces my kids touch frequently to contain as little toxins as possible so this one just makes sense!
Deodorant
Everyone said that the good-for-you deodorants make you smell terrible, but I don’t find that to be the case at all! In fact, I’ve found them to work better than ones that contain aluminum, which is what I am trying to avoid. And I love that they smell like essential oil!
Toothpaste
For this one I even double checked with our dentist on whether it was a good idea and he said yes, for both the kids and for Tom and I. I buy these from a local natural store and look for ones that are made without SLS.
For all of these products I’ve actually found better for you products that I prefer to the old version we were using! What products have you switched to better versions of in your house and are loving? I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments below!
