*Thank you Comforts™ Brand by Kroger® for sponsoring this post. Regardless all thoughts are my own and I only recommend products and brands I truly love.
I have multiple pregnant friends right now waiting until birth to find out the gender of their babies. I totally don’t get it as I’m the type of person to ask to find out as soon as possible (I did the early blood test with all 3 of my pregnancies) – but apparently it’s a really awesome surprise to wait to find out. And I’m sure it is! But I always feel stumped when it comes to buying gender neutral baby gifts. And after doing it several times here is what works best. Necessities. Seriously – stick with the stuff any new mom really can’t have enough of. Because I’m all about gift baskets I pick a few necessities, and put them in a cute basket that the new mom could also use for storage, and complete it with a bow around the basket! Here is what I mean:
Diapers. Sometimes the most obvious necessity is the best. My biggest tip here is to not buy the mom newborn or size 1 diapers. Trust me other people will send some her way, her baby very may well not ever wear size newborn diapers, and the hospital might send the expecting mom home with plenty of size 1 diapers for how fast a new baby will outgrow size 1. Overnight it seems a newborn goes from wearing size 1 to size 4, so I stick with sizes 2-4 when giving diapers as gifts. I stick with a trustworthy brand when I give diapers as a gift or in a gift basket which means I use Comforts™ from Kroger. They fit my kids great, are super soft, have improved stretch around the waist and cuffs, offer awesome absorbency and day and night leakage protection, have a wetness indicator on all sizes, and come in new cute designs! Tripp still wears these diapers and they work great!
Wipes. This is something else that seems simple but a new mom literally can not have enough of. From having a few packs all over your house and in your diaper bag, to how many you use with a new baby, there is no such thing as too many wipes. For wipes I always advise going with ones good for sensitive skin as wipes often cause adverse reactions on babies. I again use the Comforts™ brand from Kroger when gifting wipes. Their wipes come in fragrance free, as well as sensitive and scented options and with quilted-thick or soft-cushiony cloth-like feel. All of Comforts™ wipes are alcohol free, paraben free, hypoallergenic, gentile on skin, and contain moisturizing aloe and vitamin E. Comforts Diapers and Wipes are available exclusively at Kroger family of stores.
Mementos. Whether a sweet lovey like I did here, or a silver rattle (another favorite gift of mine), or a white coming home outfit, there are plenty of easy memento gifts that are gender neutral. I stick with only one little one of these as an expecting mom is going to be getting lots of these.
Bath essentials. You can also never go wrong with things like baby wash, and lotion for a new baby. Also consider throwing in something like bath bombs or bath salts to pamper the new mom with!
So there you have it – a simple, easy, cute gift basket to throw together for a new mom regardless of what gender baby she’s expecting! Or customize it to be gender specific! An expecting mom is sure to love stocking up on all the necessities. What are your go to baby gifts? I’d love to hear them below!
This is such a perfect idea! I always wonder what to get for my friends who are waiting to find out and I always end up just giving a box of diapers!
Great tips! When I had my baby shower all I wanted was diapers and wipes. You can never have enough. This stuff will add up and is expensive. Loce the idea of gifting different sizes! Totally makes sense!
I love the idea of the gender neutral basket, especially for those who are not revealing sex of the baby.
This basket is adorable!! and I’ve never heard of that brand of diapers before!! I’ll have to check them out!
