Now that Teddy is almost 2 months old, I figure it’s time to do a little post on him! Our sweet Theodore Michael Cervino was born November 22, 2019, sometime after 10:00 PM (I’d have to get out the birth announcement to remember the time). He came out completely silent, and didn’t even make a noise while they examined him under the lights and cleaned him off. I was convinced something was wrong so the whole time the nurses and Tom had to keep reassuring me he was alive and fine just “really chill”. But not to worry, he found his lungs eventually and now can cry quite loudly, it’s great.
I had a fairly easy and uneventful labor, delivery, and recovery. I really loved the hospital I delivered at and the awesome staff. Of the 4 hospitals I’ve delivered babies at now (that sounds crazy) this one was my favorite.
When we got home our older 2 kids were so excited to meet baby Teddy. Millie didn’t really know what was going on though. But Maddie Grace wanted to hold Teddy immediately and then didn’t want to give him back. She’s seriously so good with him and has been an awesome little helper for me since he was born. Tripp also is loving his brother and asks to hold him and is so sweet with him which is really special to see especially given how much he didn’t like when we brought Millie home. And Millie has come around a lot to Ted. She occasionally asks to hold him, likes to give him kisses, but then also might attack or body slam him so we have to keep a close eye on her if she’s around him!
Teddy is really sweet and a great baby… as long as he is being held. He doesn’t really like being set down ever although he’s getting a little better with it. He enjoys tummy time for short periods so if I need to put him down I put him on his tummy time nap and then chase the other kids or put away laundry, etc. I also wear him a lot (I LOVE Tula carriers) because that’s just the only way to really function. He is really observant already and is always checking out everything around him. Teddy will actually seem to watch the TV when it’s on for the kids (something Millie just started doing haha) and seems to be paying attention when we read books to the big kids too. Obviously this means he’s going to be a super smart world changer or something ha.
Probably the most commonly asked question I get right now both in person and on-line is how adjusting to 4 kids has been. And honestly it hasn’t been bad. The hardest part has been the not sleeping great and then having a baby who wants to be held constantly and feeling like that takes away from the attention I can give my other kids. But overall it’s been an easier transition for me than going from 2-3 which was super hard. I do think what made adding Millie extra hard for me (despite her being the easiest baby of all time) was that Tripp was so difficult as a 2 year old. Now that he’s older and easier, and Millie is still fairly chill, it’s just a totally different dynamic of managing these kids and it’s a lot easier to get out of the house.
I’ve also been getting a lot of questions on Instagram about clothes and products I’ve bought for him. My favorites right now are the convertible gowns from The Beaufort Bonnet Company (although he will outgrow them soon and then idk what I will do!) and Kissy Kissy pajamas. That’s pretty much all he wears. We also love these nice fleece booties that actually stay on well that he’s been wearing every day and his The Beaufort Bonnet Company Pacifier Clip is a staple as well. As far as baby gear we are loving the Doona car seat but Teddy really doesn’t like his bassinet or any of his seats! He might sit for a minute in the Mamaroo but then he’s crying again. We do love the Copper Pearl swaddles for swaddling (they are the only ones that really seem to work well) and really that’s about it. Oh and check out his perfect birth announcements from Minted. Doing newborn pictures is always really important to me and I love sending out birth announcements to our friends and family and now have a shadow box with all 4 announcements in it. And the Teddy custom stamps really made them extra awesome!
Thank you all so much for your kind words and thoughts on Teddy and his delivery, etc. We are truly so so so blessed to have 4 happy and healthy children who we are absolutely in love with and Teddy has been the perfect (last) addition to our family.
And now for picture overload:
