I know, I know, there was just another gift guide. But this one is just for what I consider to be the hardest age to shop for: toddlers. Not only do I struggle with what to buy for this age, but all of the grandparents keep asking me as well. Teddy can’t quite express yet what he really wants for Christmas but I still have to have toys to give him. Here are a few ideas for those of us still shopping for this years holiday and great for other occasions when you need a gift for a toddler swell:
Shoes
There are a few things I get my kids of all ages every year for Christmas. Pajamas, toothbrushes, and shoes. My kids always need new shoes. Toddlers are hard on their shoes. They get dirty, worn out, and they outgrow them so so so quickly. And for all of those reasons I am very picky about what shoes I’ll buy my little guy. I want something that is affordable, comfortable, but also high quality enough that they will hold up well for the next season at least. I love these Surprize by Stride Rite Torin sneakers at Target. They’re athletic and comfy but can also be thrown in the washing machine when they get dirty. The anti-odor lining is also crucial for this age group. And they look cute! These sneakers go with just about any outfit Teddy has in his closet! You can find them at Target here!
Toys
Toys are what my kids actually show up Christmas morning for. This is obviously their favorite part. Our house is maxed out on cheaply made plastic toys though, we need no more. What I am still buying the kids is Green Toys. These are toys made in the USA with 100% recycled plastic and are BPA, Phthalates and PVC free. So they are toys that I feel good about giving my kids and I know are also good for our planet as well. Plus they are cute and fun for little ones to play with. We were sent the Best for Baby bundle which comes with a cute tugboat perfect for the bathtub with a little tugboat book, a race car which is the perfect size for a toddler, and a twist teether! Use the code BABBLE on their website greentoys.com for 20% off all orders from 11/26/21 through 12/17/21.
Books
One of the first Christmas’ that Maddie Grace could talk I’ll never forget how she asked Santa Clause only for “BOOKS!” So she got a huge pile of them and it made her so happy! Ever since then all of our kids get multiple books on Christmas morning. I love finding ones that are all about what they are interested in, or can be paired with pajamas or a toy. Having sisters who are obsessed with ballet, Teddy has already been very exposed to the world of ballet. A Child’s Introduction to the Nutcracker is such an in depth book not just about the show The Nutcracker but also about the entire world of ballet in general! It’s a beautiful book that all my kids are enjoying!
