We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend and hope all of our friends out there did as well! Maddie Grace experienced a lot of new things, some of which overwhelmed her. We had planned for a while to take MG on her first trip to my hometown of Savannah this weekend since Tom had Monday off work and could take a half day on Friday. As we got closer to the weekend we decided it would be better to leave on Saturday, and then eventually for reasons I won’t get into here we figured it would be best to come back early as well. So we drove down Saturday, visited with our friends the Tsoi’s who loved on Maddie Grace, and on Sunday we frolicked around downtown Savannah. I’ve missed Savannah immensely. There are few cities where you can walk around a beautiful downtown while drinking a to-go beer.
Afterwards, we went to our friends’ restaurant opening (I mean seriously, how cool is that?!? My friends rock.) where we were able to spend time with some other friends and enjoy some delicious food. Unfortunately though MG had an enormous emotional breakdown while we were there – with all the new sights, loud music, and more people than she’s ever been around before she was a little overstimulated. Tom and I tried everything to get her to calm down but nothing worked, so we decided to leave after that and went ahead and drove home.
That gave us all day Monday to spend at home, and my roommate from college who lives in Charleston now but was visiting her parents close by was able to come by and meet Maddie.
It started as a nice day so we went and bought an inflatable pool to try to have some fun in our backyard (since our neighborhood pool is ridiculously overpriced to join and MG wouldn’t enjoy it yet anyways we had to get creative), but right when we blew it up it started pouring rain. Anyways I’m not sure Maddie will enjoy it, it seemed to scare her, but I’m sure Tom and I will.
MG was feeling particularly patriotic on Memorial Day, she even wanted to wear her patriotic diapers…
Ok seriously – how much do you love these American Flag themed diapers from The Honest Company? They are a must have for July 4th! Here is another cute picture of her from this week in Honest Diapers…
