This picture makes my heart so happy! It was taken in the hospital right before we left when Maddie Grace was only two days old. Now she is almost two months old! I love watching Tom and her together. Earlier today I was holding Maddie Grace and Tom started talking and she turned her head to look at him and got the biggest smile on her face. I melted. I remember the day I found out I was pregnant and telling Tom. I was not expecting the test to be positive and was so scared and nervous about the whole being pregnant thing, but Tom smiled when I told him and was nothing but excited.
Tom is such an amazing daddy to Maddie Grace, and he just gets better every single day. He loves holding her, singing to her, playing with her, and most of all laying down and cuddling with her. The second he gets home from work every day he wants her in his arms. He already spoils her (which I’m okay with) and always wants the best for her. MG has had some bad allergic reactions to different diapers and wipes and Tom even said one day that he would rather go without buying things he wanted and instead buy her the expensive diapers and wipes that don’t make her break out. He is obsessed with baby wearing and now that she fits in the Ergo Tom walks around with her in there while she naps when he is home. We went to Target yesterday and I brought my wrap planning on wearing her and Tom wouldn’t let me because he wanted to do it.
I am so thankful that I somehow ended up with such an amazing dad for our children. I think I’ve been conditioned to look for such traits in a partner though because I have an amazing dad myself.
My dad has always been there for me and is so caring and generous. He is already a great grandpa to Maddie Grace and I know he wishes we lived closer (and so do we)! I remember as a kid he would always do my hair before school. He would always part it on the side and put a colored clip in it. I usually looked terrible, and I remember having one preschool teacher who always redid it for me when I got there, but he tried and that’s what counts.
So today we spent a relaxing day at home as a family (and by relaxing I mean I was running around everywhere getting ready for our trip to Ohio this week) and then went up to Tom’s parents house for dinner. Of course I really wanted a picture of me with MG and one of the three of us but forgot to get one, so here is MG with her dad and Grandpa Tom.
And of course there were presents involved! Maddie Grace made her daddy and grandpas frames for Father’s Day this year! She just purchased some unfinished wood frames at Hobby Lobby, wood stain, and a paint pen and when she was done she put a coat of Modge Podge on top of them as a sealant (she’s very advanced). I also gave Tom this adorable card that I bought from Mod by Mel that says “If I had known what a great dad you would be I would have got knocked up years ago”.
I hope everyone had an amazing Father’s Day!
Such a beautiful post and lovely pics!
