My sweet, sweet Maddie Grace,
I can not believe that you are two month old. It feels as if you have always been a part of our family but at the same time it seems like just yesterday you were born. I am loving watching you grow up and am looking forward to what tomorrow holds, yet I already miss you being at the stage you are now.
Yesterday we went to the doctor and found out you are in the 90th percentile for height, 82nd for weight, and 46th for head circumference. Your dad thinks it is hilarious that you have a disproportionately small head. You still squeeze into 0-3 month clothes but your 3-6 month outfits are much more comfortable. You are still exclusively breastfed and I am so so thankful that is working out well for us, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Your big dark blue eyes that we love haven’t changed yet, but we think they will turn brown any day now. Your hair has been falling out like crazy leaving behind funny looking bald patches, but you still have the precious rat tail.
You are becoming more and more expressive every day. You give us lots of smiles and coos, but also lots of sad faces, and everyone says you look serious most of the time. Yesterday you laughed for the first time when both Daddy and I were home to hear it. We spent most of the day trying to get you to do it again but to no avail.
You absolutely hate tummy time, but love laying on your playmat and staring at the different animals (but only for a limited amount of time). The majority of the day you want either me or your dad holding you upright and walking around. You fall asleep while we do this but wake up the second we stop moving or sit down. This gets very tiring, so we have to put you in a wrap or the Ergo carrier often. Every now and then you will still take a nap cuddled up on one of our chests.
Lucky for us you are an amazing sleeper at night, as long as you are swaddled, although the doctor told us we should wean you off of swaddling. My parents say I was a terrible sleeper as a baby, and seem rather mad that you sleep so well (I think they want some revenge on me). You started sleeping through the night at around one month. Usually you have one 6-8 hour shift, wake up to feed, and then sleep again another 3-4 hours before you are up for the day. You take lots of naps throughout the day and are your fussiest when tired and fighting sleep.I love being at home with you and seeing how you develop every day. I still keep a journal where I write you letters. I haven’t been good about doing it every day but I manage to write at least every few days. This is one of the letters in the journal so if you are reading this I suppose you already know about it.
This week we are taking you on her first road trip and I am anxious to see how it goes. We are heading to Ohio for my cousin’s wedding and stopping in Kentucky on the way to check out Manmouth caves and the bourbon distilleries. We are traveling with my mom (Grandma Cindy) who will be meeting you for the first time on this trip, she is so excited!Your daddy and I love you to the moon and back an infinite amount of times and always will.
And of course, what type of update would this be without some pictures?
