There is absolutely, positively, not a chance, no freaking way a whole month has flown by since my last monthly update. I may be crying a little bit. How do I have a 5 month old? That means it only another month she will be a 6 month old – that’s half of a year! I refuse to believe it. I feel like she is still so new to the world, and new to me. I want to think she’s still a tiny newborn, although she is far from that. Thankfully she still cuddles with me (on occasion we she actually naps) and has moments where she just needs her mama.
MG has SO much personality coming through. She loves to grab noses, reach and pick up her favorite toys, and be in a sitting up position. She even likes playing piano now! She doesn’t like staying still but wants to be on the go all of the time. She is trying so hard to sit up on her own and gets very close to it, but usually ends either face planting or falling backwards so we have to be very careful if we sit her up. She also tries to get to sitting from laying down which cracks us up because it looks like she is doing crunches. MG still loves to put whatever she can in her mouth – especially her feet. She also likes to roll 360 degrees repeatedly, and will pretty much roll across a room if we let her.
Baby girl is a chatterbox and talks all day long. She also laughs all the time now. The easiest ways to get her to laugh are to bounce her up and down, dance for her, and tickle her. Maddie Grace loves to read books, especially ones with bright colorful pictures. She is loving Baby Lit books that my dad got for her and I am too – they are adorable!
Another love? The exersaucer. I have the songs from it stuck in my head all day long. But I love that when I need just a little break I can stick her in there and either work on the computer or on making a bracelet for a few minutes. She’s never content for too long if my attention isn’t fully on her though.
My once sleeping champ is now a sleeping nightmare, which I presume is from the teething. Yes – there are two visible teeth coming in now that hurt me to even look at. She goes to sleep around 10 (late, I know, but it gives her a chance to spend time with daddy) and used to wake up at 6 to nurse and then sleep again until around 9. Now she’s up between midnight and about every 2 hours after that. I’m really hoping this is a phase she gets out of quickly!
No doctors appointment this month so I can’t tell you her percentiles or stats, but I know she gets bigger and bigger every day. MG is in 9 month clothes now. I’ve bought a lot of 6-12 month outfits for Fall, and am secretly happy that they are a little big on her (although they aren’t that big and won’t be for long).
Despite the mommy ache I feel over her growing up, each month is just more and more fun. I enjoy watching her learn and how she looks bright eyed at the world. I hope her love for learning and exploring never fade.
We love the Baby Lit books too! They are so creative and really pretty! She is adorable, the months just fly by don't they?!
Thank you! Yes going way to fast! Which ones are your favorites? My dad got us Alice In Wonderland and Jane Eyre (he's an English professor so it's fitting) – trying to decide which others to get!
