Another project taking up a lot of time in the life of my husband and I right now is house renovations. We’ve had a list since we moved in that we have hardly made a dent in. First up is painting… pretty much every room in our entire house. I mean the colors in our house right now aren’t the best. And the lighting in our house is very dark. Incredibly dark. Which makes me want to white wash the walls. However, I’ve seen some pictures of whitewashed rooms in houses lately (seriously bloggers love to paint every room of their houses white for some reason) and I’m just not feeling that. So I want color but light colors that will open up our house some.
Our playroom is the worst out of all the rooms in our house when it comes to natural light, and is painted this horrible light yellow color. Right now we are painting it a very light grey. Then we will add a couch and a storage organization piece for all these toys that are everywhere. And of course we will hang up lots of pictures and prints on the wall. Hopefully we get this room done soon because I can’t wait to host play dates and of course share pictures here.
After the playroom is done we will be painting our dining room and living room, which are connected. Right now the dining room is this dark red color and the living room a tan color. I’m not a fan of either. Problem is, I’m not sure what color to use, but I’m thinking that both rooms need to be the same color. At first I thought that I would paint both the same color as the playroom, but now I’m thinking that will be too stale since the light gray is fairly close to white. So what colors do you think I should use to paint our living room and dining room? Should I paint both rooms the same color so they flow better?
I'm loving seeing pictures of your house. I love light grey as a neutral, but I also love color. I think you could go either way with the dining room. A different color or shade will make it look like a different room – but the same will make it all flow into one.
Ahhh such hard decisions! Thanks for your input 🙂
