14 months. Full blown toddlerhood. Eek!

This month has been a blast overall, but I will say that some days are better than others. One day we will have an amazing day, Maddie Grace is so well behaved and fun, and we both enjoy playing, running errands, etc. Then other days are a nightmare. MG will scream most of the day, just wants me to hold her, going in public is embarrassing, etc. Those are the days that when Tom gets home I hand her over to him and lock myself in our room and cry. Just kidding…. maybe.
Maddie Grace is running around everywhere now and getting very good at getting into stuff that I though I put out of her reach. She also loves climbing on and off the couch, and sitting in her own chair. I love that we have a big backyard because lots of days I just set her down and let her run around back there
We’ve been having play dates galore which is really good for both of us. I love hanging out with my mommy friends and MG loves socializing with other babies. Sometimes when all the kids start having melt downs at the same time at a restaurant we regret it but for the most part play dates are a blast. We’ve also been frequenting our neighborhood pool, which MG loves. She is such a water baby and lives for splashing around in the cool water.
I’ve been really impressed with Maddie Grace’s growth in vocabulary lately, and her seeming to understand what we tell her. The other day I handed her a piece of food and told her it was hot and she started blowing on it before eating it. She also now says “baby” and either rubs her chest or holds a stuffed animal which is really cute, “wubby” for her Wubanub, makes tons of animal noises (meow, woof, and quack are her favorites). Other words she says a lot? Kitty, Puppy, poop (it’s pretty funny), yeah, no no no no no, mama, dada, uh oh, woah, thank you, hey, and bye. It’s also pretty cute that she will pierce her lips together, say “mmmmm” and lean in when she wants a kiss.
Another favorite activity of MG’s is her weekly music class and making music at home. She loves to dance, play instruments, and even attempt to sing along to the music. I’m a piano player really would like for her to play an instrument of some sort (probably going to push piano on her) when she’s older.
Of course her absolute favorite activity is eating. Girlfriend needs a snack constantly, will eat all the chocolate and sugar she can get her hands on, and usually eats all of her friends’ snacks as well as her own when we have play dates. Typically she is covered in food like this. Just don’t make her eat actually sitting in her high chair. She hates that.
Maddie Grace loves playing games and is such a happy, giggly girl. We do lots of hide n’ seek (she always hides behind the couch though), chase, and she really enjoys it when I play puzzles or her other toys with her. The thing is though she doesn’t really ever want to play by herself. Lots of days I try to get some work done on the computer and set her down in the play room and she just clings to my leg crying until I put away the computer and actually play with her.
Some of Maddie Grace’s favorite things this month are her custom name puzzle from The Wooden Horse, which I love both as a decoration and a toy, and right now you can receive 7% off their shop with the code CASUALCLAIRE! My music loving baby is also loving the Rockabye Baby lullaby CD’s – aka lullaby versions of good music. We especially love the Greatful Dead, Beatles and Bruce Springsteen CD’s!
So here’s to us both making it another month, and hoping the next month goes by a little slower. We already have a ton planned though so I have a feeling it will fly by again!
What a cutie!!!!
Thank you!
She is precious! And all the talking really IS so much fun! My daughter is 16 mos. and does the kiss face and noise too… It is my favorite!
Thank you! Ahhh so cute!
Oh my lands, she is such a cutie! I love that bubble dress. Time just goes by too quickly with little ones.
SO cute! I had to come over and read this post (from the Blogger Life FB page)—I have a Julia Grace (2 years) and a Madilyn Rose (4 months) who we call Maddie! Your little girl is adorable, and it only gets better from that age!
She's such a cutie! And you have some mad photography skills 😉

She is so darn cute! I didn't realize she and my sin were so close in age {he will be 14 months on July 3}! She is wonderful!
She's adorable. I'm so impressed she keeps her bow on! Abbie never really did….
