This pregnancy is flying! In 3 weeks I’ll be halfway there, but I still don’t even think it’s hit me yet that I’m pregnant! In January I’m going to have a newborn in my arms to cuddle and smell the top of their head… and keep me awake all night… but oh the cuddles make it so worth it!
So how’s the pregnancy going? Not too much has changed since my last update honestly. I had a few days of not feeling great, but I had a really good doctor’s appointment for 16 weeks where I got to hear the heartbeat again. I don’t think that ever gets old. With Maddie Grace I used a home doppler all the time to listen to the heartbeat. This time I haven’t used it as often (no free time) but have a few times and it’s still really exciting.
The really exciting news for this week is that Tom was able to feel a couple baby kicks! I really think I’ve been feeling movements this time since I was about 6 weeks pregnant, which I’m not even sure is possible. But yes, now you can feel them from the outside when they’re really strong kicks. I love feeling the baby move and especially when Tom can have that connection as well. With Maddie Grace my placenta was towards the front and I didn’t feel any movements until after 20 weeks. Feeling them so early this pregnancy is very different but I love it!
So let’s break it down…
Feeling: Okay. I’m tired but manage to have energy to get things done. I’ve had a couple days of stomach pain and nausea the last week that kind of worried me but everything is fine. I’m still getting some headaches but wondering if those are from pregnancy or because I’ve been craving so much fountain coca-cola and now having withdrawals.
Eating: I’m craving bread. Like just straight up bread. There’s really not much else I want to eat at all. I’m having a hard time eating meat so I’m making sure I find other sources of protein. I haven’t really had any weird pregnancy cravings lately… one night I really craved Mexican but that happens even when I’m not pregnant. Fruits and veggies have been hard for me to stomach. I’ve been making smoothies that I force on myself even though they make me feel nauseous.
Weight: I’ve gained around 5.5 pounds now. At first I was worried about gaining weight because I was starving all the time and eating unhealthy food nonstop. I’m still not eating healthy, but have been eating less. I do need to be better about working out though which will help balance things out.
Workouts: I try to fit in a spin class a couple times a week, some yoga at home, and go on some runs when it’s not so hot. I’m also trying to still focus on having some days where I focus on legs and arms. overall I’ve been taking it easy though, especially with both Tom and MG getting sick in the last week and having to deal with that. I keep telling myself (and the world on here) that I’m going to get on a better workout schedule so maybe the next update I’ll have had more success.
Clothes: Elastic waist shorts, workout clothes, and dresses are my life. I will put off any maternity clothes as long as possible.
Comments: “Are you expecting?” – This one was kind of fun, actually. I like to think I’m not really showing yet, but I am. A law school friend of mine who doesn’t keep up with me here or on social media who I ran into when working last week asked me this, and I happily told her yes. I figured she knew me well enough to know I hadn’t just gained weight, and she said she could tell because I didn’t look like I had gained weight anywhere except my stomach which I was happy to hear, although I know isn’t quite the case! I love the part of pregnancy where you are cutely showing (I’m dreading the being huge stage)!
Now we are off to an awesome play date and then either a weekend of fun activities in Atlanta or we will be heading to Savannah for the weekend!
This is so exciting, girl! Although it is an exciting time in your life, do you ever get annoyed with the mass of "are you pregnant" questions?
