I just love this time of year. So many holiday festivities going on, it’s hard to cram them all in. We’ve also had a lot going on. Tom has been traveling a lot for work lately, and between my back pain and exhaustion it’s been tough being alone with Maddie Grace during the week, so I was thankful to have a little bit, well one day, of family time this weekend.
So we made the most our family day. We started Saturday with breakfast with Santa at Maddie Grace’s preschool. Tom’s parents came with us and we had a really good time! MG didn’t like Santa any more this time than she did her last visit (see here) but she did love the food (of course) and the games that were going on.
After that we headed to a mall in the area that does a really cute Journey to the North Pole attraction with Shrek that ends with the kids meeting Santa. Some friends of ours met us there too and we were able to go through it together. MG seemed to like meeting Santa more with a friend there who wasn’t scared of him at all. Still a lot of uncertainty, but she made some improvements. Maybe we’ll take her to another Santa this weekend and she’ll smile? Probably not, and that seems mean.
After a brief rest we headed to a little tree lighting festival going on near us. There was s’more making, apple cider, hot chocolate, music – a lot going on. We didn’t stay that long though because it got really cold, and we were exhausted and my back was killing me.
I seriously wore these Joan boots from Naturalizer the entire weekend. They’re my new favorites – cute, comfortable, and they are amazing quality. I love the decorative buckle and strap, and the non-slip outsole for stability since I’m a huge klutz but really can’t afford to fall down right now.
This week has had a rocky but good start. Maddie Grace has been really good lately – hardly any temper tantrums (exceptions to this include getting her out of the bath and not giving her the food she wants right away), laughs at everything, gives lots of hug, and just sweet and fun all around. She wasn’t feeling great yesterday so we stayed home all day but it was still fun! I finally ordered furniture for her new big girl room that will hopefully come soon so we can get it set up, get the new babies clothes put away in the nursery, and I’ll finally feel more ready for this new baby to come. Thankfully Tom gets off from Christmas to New Years so we are planning on really knocking out getting the house ready then but would love to go ahead and get started!
What a lovely day! Thanks for sharing! xo

Very cute style! Were your joan boots the regular calf or wide calf?
