Thank you Well Beginnings for sponsoring this post. Regardless all words are my own and I only recommend products I truly love.
For a mom, it all starts at the beginning. That first breath of air your baby takes. The precious moment where you first hold your newborn in your arms. When you think “how did I create such a marvelous thing?” The first latch. The first moment your baby wraps their fingers around yours. When they fall asleep on your chest and you experience a depth of love you didn’t even know was possible.
Then that baby grows. You don’t want them to, but you delight in more firsts. The first real gummy smile, the first beautiful laugh, the way you beam with pride the first time they roll over. The first night that they sleep through the whole night.
That baby keeps growing. Your baby will sit up for the first time. Then they will crawl, and pretty soon they are into everything you don’t want them to be. You will hear them say ‘mama’ for the first time and your heart will melt. More words will follow: ‘dada’ ‘uh oh’ ‘hi’ bye’ and eventually they become a parrot. Your heart will leap when they clap their hands in joy for the first time and time might seem to be moving too fast the first time you see them standing on their own.
Then there are the first steps. You’ll encourage them to do them, and yet not be ready at all when they do. Next thing you know they are running. The first time your child starts stringing together more than one word. When you first realize they understand what you are saying to them, even if they don’t actually listen to you. There may even be the first time they repeat a word or two they heard you say that you didn’t want them to pick up on.
Almost every day your baby will have a first. The problem is, we moms eventually stop recognizing the firsts. Do you remember the first time your baby dressed themselves for school? The first time they said ‘mama I love you’ or the first time they brushed their own teeth? How about the first time they wanted to read you a book, ate their favorite food, or started engaging in imaginative play? These are the sweet moments of early childhood that I hold dear and want to remember. Every day my children learn something new. Every day there is a first that we can celebrate. I take pictures, I write it in my journal, I want to burn these memories of firsts onto my mind where I will carry them with me forever.
Because I cherish my children’s first moments I choose Walgreen’s Well Beginnings diapers with Tripp for all his first moments. These diapers have helped my baby sleep through the night with their 12 hour leakage protection, and have been there for us with Tripp learning to crawl with the soft stretchable waist that is comfortable for baby. These diapers are incredibly high quality, Good Housekeeping even found them more absorbent than Huggies, but are an affordable price at $6.99 a package!
How did you commemorate you baby’s firsts? Which firsts were you most excited about? I’d love to hear more about it below!
