I love to travel. And I love taking our kids with us when we travel. But there are few things I hate more than unpacking after we travel. And how there is always one lingering bag of dirty clothes that doesn’t get unpacked for several weeks and that we forget about only to finally get to and realize that‘s where the shirt I’d been wanting to wear was. Ugh it’s so frustrating. But at some point I realized that things had to change and I needed a better routine to make unpacking more bearable. So here are the 3 unpacking tips I’ve found make my life easy after a trip:
Keep the Kids Entertained. And use this time to stay focused on the task at hand. Don’t think you can put away a little bit at a time and then come back later and do more. You won’t. Give the kids some coloring books, put them in front of the TV, or even ask your spouse to watch them so you get a few quality hours for unpacking uninterrupted. Use this time to actually put things away, and reorganize as you go if you have to.
Use a Good Laundry Detergent. And wash everything. Even if you didn’t wear something on your trip it needs to go in the wash. I chose to use Persil ProClean for handling our toughest laundry. It is seriously tough on stains, smells great, and leaves my colors brighter and whites whiter. I love getting dirty travel clothes fresh and clean again! You’ll find Persil ProClean at Walmart for a great price and save even more with Persil ProClean!
Make It Fun. “Hey Alexa, can you play Andrew Lloyd Webber music?” is my go to when it comes to unpacking (or cleaning our house). Turn on some jams, or turn on a podcast or audio book, and make unpacking fun so that you enjoy it! When done right, unpacking can be some quality alone time!
Because unpacking shouldn’t make you feel like this:

Unpacking is the worst! It’s like the final stab that vacation is over. I always wash everything too. I need to check out this detergent.
YES! It always takes me sooooo long to unpack after a trip! And I always just toss everything in the wash, even if its not dirty!
LOL MG and her face!!! Seriously though, I hate unpacking and usually leave my suitcase for a week in our bedroom!
