*Thank you Sears for sponsoring this post. Regardless I only recommend brands I truly love.
American pride runs deep in my family. Some of my earliest memories are of my grandfather in Kansas wanting to teach his grandkids about World War II, a war he fought in. He showed us his uniform, newspaper articles, relics of the war he held onto, and every time we would visit he took us to see a wall that had the names of everyone from Abilene that fought in World War II. My brother and I loved all this and our connection to United States History through Grandpa. My mom can trace her family back to colonists that came over in the mid-1700’s. In fact, I’m a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution because of a patriot in our family.
But even without these family ties I love our country. Sure it has flaws, but the United States was formed as a melting pot for people of different religions and nationalities. It was built on ideals of freedom and liberty. And I am so thankful for the men and women in the military, both present and past, who continue to protect these fundamentals of our country.
That’s why I love supporting businesses who support members of our military and veterans. Sears Holdings was recently recognized by RecruitMilitary as a Most Valuable Employers for Military winner. Last year, Sears Holdings also hired more than 2,700 veterans and more than 2,500 military spouses! This year, Sears is celebrating it’s 10th annual Heroes at Home campaign with Rebuilding Together to raise funds and assist military families in need by making critical repairs and modifications to their homes. Now through July 29th Shop Your Way members can donate to Heroes at Home at their local stores or at sears.com/heroesathome. You can also check out this video to learn a little more about Rebuilding Together and how they, together with Sears, help military families.
Do you have any special connections to veterans or current members of the military? Would love to hear all about it below!
