I know I’ve said it here before, but each one of my pregnancies has been so, so, so, so different. It’s kind of crazy to even think about. My first one I had several odd complications but felt pretty good. Second one had no complications and I felt amazing the whole time. This one I feel pretty terrible all the time, but every time I go to the doctor everything looks good on their end so I’m thankful for that. But my point is that all pregnancies come in different forms and affects every expecting mama in a distinct way. Regardless, there are a few things that can be done in every pregnancy to ensure a healthy pregnancy (even if you feel terrible). Ultimately a healthy pregnancy contributes to a healthy baby which is the goal! So what can you do? Here are some tips:
All the water. I’ve never even had an issue drinking enough water when pregnant until this pregnancy and now I’m struggling, mostly because I’ve felt so sick I don’t want to drink anything. But being adequately hydrated actually gives you more energy and helps ease pregnancy discomfort. Plus your baby needs you to be hydrated for them to get everything they need!
All the nutrients. If you’re pregnant you’ve likely already been told to take prenatal vitamins. And yes, prenatal vitamins are so, so important. But they typically lack all the nutrients a pregnant lady actually needs. Most prenatal vitamins don’t contain enough calcium, only 20-30% actually, and calcium is super important for women to consume during pregnancy. Expecting moms need to get at least 1,000 mg of daily calcium, or they risk the calcium the baby needs being pulled from their own bones which put their bone health at risk later in life. Viactiv makes it easy and delicious to get the calcium you need during pregnancy with their soft chews. Each chew contains 500 mg of calcium so it’s safe to have two a day and with chocolate and caramel flavors you will actually enjoy eating them instead of swallowing a big pill! Learn more about pregnancy and calcium here. You’ll find Viactiv at major retailers including CVS, Rite Aid, Target and Walmart.
All the sleep. Sleep is so crucial for your health during pregnancy. And I know how hard it is. Especially if you have other kids you are tending to, or are suffering from pregnancy insomnia like I have during all 3 of my pregnancies. But sleep whenever you can. Need a nap? Go for it. Husband lets you sleep in? Don’t feel guilty at all. You need every bit you can get!
All – well a little – of the exercise. And this one can be taken with a grain of salt. First of all, only exercise if your doctor approves it and says it’s okay. And next, don’t overdo it. But some exercise can be awesome though – both for you and for your growing baby. Not only can it be a natural anxiety and stress reliever, and strengthens your body which can make labor easier, but there are health benefits both for you and baby that you don’t want to miss out on. If you aren’t feeling up for anything else, take short walks every other day!
All the healthy food. Okay, pregnancy is pretty much the only time you can justify eating all the food you want. But in general fruits, vegetables, and foods high in protein are best for you and baby! In general you should eat 5-6 healthy and balanced meals a day, and of course it’s okay to give in to your cravings when pregnant!
Pregnancy can be hard – so while it’s important to be as healthy as possible it’s also important to give yourself some grace, be easy on yourself, and take advantage of things like Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews that make having a healthy pregnancy easier. Mamas and mamas to be – I’d love to hear some tips on what you did to make staying healthy during pregnancy easier in the comments below!

these vitamins look so amazing!!! and you look so gorgeous pregnant!
I loved the milk chocolate when I was pregnant. My OB highly recommended taking them to supplement prenatal vitamins.
I can definitely get on board with these, except for the sleep part. My toddler is making sure that won’t happen
