If you’re like us, trips to the grandparents’ house make for fun weekend getaways and family bonding time so we embark on them quite frequently. In fact, I’m sitting at grandpa’s house right now as I write this. But as nice as it is to be around family, life at the grandparent’s house brings a whole new set of challenges with it when you have young children. Life at the grandparents’ house becomes a lot easier if you have certain supplies for your kids – so here’s what I recommend having on hand:
VTech Safe&Sound® DM271-110 DECT 6.0 Digital Audio Baby Monitor with Open/Closed & Motion Sensors – If you have a mobile child you need one of these at both your house AND the grandparents’ house. I get nervous because grandpa has some steep stairs and getting Maddie Grace to stay in her room here can be difficult. What if she woke up before me and tumbled down the stairs? What a nightmare! Well the VTech Digital Audio Monitor makes me feel a lot better about it. This system comes with Ultra Low Energy smart sensors, to help parents keep an ear on their little ones. You can also put sensors to know when cabinet doors are opened, regular room doors are opened, a motion sensor, and you can talk back through the monitor.
It works up to 1,000 feet from the base so feel free to roam around with it! It’s also a nice way to make your little one feel more familiar with home. As Maddie Grace loves watching the star projections from the base at home having it at Grandpa’s house helps her get to sleep at night. The VTech Digital Audio Monitors is a great deal at $119.95 and can be found at vtechphones.com and amazon.com.
Stroller – The stroller is always what takes up the most room in the car trying to get to grandparents’ house. Since I have about a thousand strollers we brought one down here to leave which helps immensely with our travels. It’s nice to be able to get out and about, or just take the kids on neighborhood walks here!
Glider – If you have a baby or toddler that is used to being rocked before bedtime it’s totally worth it to invest in having a glider at the grandparents’ house. Keeping their nighttime routine as close to as it is at their home is key to getting a good nights’ sleep!
Places to Put Your Kids – Whether a playpen or a bouncy seat, you’ll be happy to give your kid a safe area to play while at the grandparents’ house so you can take a shower without overwhelming the grandparents’ by throwing all the kids at the,!
Sippy Cups – I can’t be the only person that always forgets the sippy cups when going to the grandparents’ house! That’s why I just keep a stack of them here so it’s no problem that I forget them.
What are your favorite things to keep at the grandparents’ house?
I am missing out on a few things.
