Our sweet baby girl is now a big 3 month old! We are officially out of the “fourth trimester,” although it seems Maddie Grace has been out of that since around the time she hit the one month mark. Every day is truly more fun with our precious baby and I’m excited to see what tomorrow holds.
Height/Weight
Well, we didn’t have a doctor’s appointment this month so I’m not really sure. Maddie Grace seems to keep getting longer and chunkier though. I’m assuming at some point this will slow down or else we will have a giant and very heavy baby on our hands.
Sleeping
Maddie Grace is a sleeping champ. She will sleep 12 hours a night with one 8-9 hour solid stretch and then one 3-4 hour stretch if I don’t wake her up early. However, usually I wake her up to either go work out or do something else and then she takes a longer late morning nap. She takes periodic naps throughout the day, although usually they don’t last longer than 20-30 minutes. When she gets tired during the day she gets SO fussy and fights sleep like crazy, which I just don’t understand.
Eating
Still exclusively breastfed! Her and I are both proud to meet this milestone and plan to keep it up for as much longer as we can, although I’m worried about when she gets teeth. She now feeds for about 15-20 minutes total every 2 hours or so.
Sizes
Most 3-6 month outfits fit MG perfectly right now, some are even too small on her. She has a few 6-12 month outfits that fit her now, but thankfully most of those are still baggy on her. Different brands fit her so differently – I wish there was some universal sizing guide that all manufacturers had to follow so there was more consistency in sizing!
Milestones
The biggest milestone reached this month was rolling over. Maddie Grace has rolled over both from her stomach to her back and her back to her stomach… but not often. I saw her roll from tummy to back twice one day a few weeks ago, and have not seen her do it since. One evening Tom and I both saw her roll from her back to her tummy, and then she started screaming because she hates tummy time, and neither of us have seen her do it since. She also has been chewing on her hands like crazy, and I have a feeling her feet are next because she is always staring at them. She has started being able to pick things up and put them in her mouth somewhat, although she’s not very good at it yet. She picks up her wubbanub and just throws it towards her mouth and ends up chewing on one of his legs. MG can also now sit up when propped up and holds her head up perfectly. She is clearly getting very strong, and loves when we hold her up so she can push down with her legs and stand up.
Temperment
Maddie Grace has been MUCH less colicky this last month. She is pretty much a dream baby – only fussy when she’s sleepy or hungry. She smiles a ton now and sometimes if you tickle her she will even let out a little giggle, but it seems impossible for me to ever get a picture of her smiling. Although mostly a happy baby, she changes moods very quickly. MG will be smiling one second and making a pouty face the next. Even her pouty face is adorable though. MG seems to enjoy getting out and observing the world. I took her to the library for baby time last week and she sat in my lap very alertly watching all the other babies, and over the weekend we took her to a Braves game and she sat in our laps watching the game the whole time.
Me
I finally feel like I’m starting to get out my rut and am getting out of the house more during week days. I just started baby boot camp last week and am loving it – both getting back in shape and being out of the house and around other moms. I hope to find other activities for us to do outside the house as well if it is ever not raining in Atlanta again.
She is so darling! I love reading milestone posts–they make me think back to when Joshua was at that stage. You really do have a sleeping champ on your hands. Joshua was a terrible sleeper up until he was about a year old. Now he's a good sleeper, but that first year was torture for me.
I also love that you included a "you" update. 🙂
