We are a pretty busy and on the go family, so a well packed diaper bag is pretty essential to us. We always want to make sure that not only we have the diapering basics, but everything from feeding to outdoor activities, toys to PURELL® Hand Sanitizing Wipes to keep nasty germs off our hands and faces. So what do I make sure I have with me every day? Here it is:
1) Diapering Basics
This is pretty obvious since it is a diaper bag. I also grab at least 2 diapers and wipes, as well as a changing table cover. Changing stations never seem to have the disposable covers stocked so it’s important to remember your own. Another must have is little throw away bags for when you have dirty diapers somewhere and can’t get to a trash can quickly, or want to be polite and mask the smell in a public restroom.
2) PURELL® Hand Sanitizing Wipes
Most places we go are less than sanitary, which is especially a concern with a crawling baby who gets into everything she can. Using liquid hand sanitizer just isn’t possible with a baby (seriously it will end badly – don’t try it) so these PURELL® Hand Sanitizing Wipes are a lifesaver for us. Plus liquid sanitizer doesn’t clean the dirt and grime off a baby’s hands the way these do. They make wiping off baby’s hands and mouth a breeze, and then I can quickly use one as well. PURELL® Hand Sanitizing Wipes kill 99.99% of illness-causing germs so they help us go to baby friendly places without freaking out about the germs.
3) Feeding
Now that Maddie Grace is eating a ton of solids and not breastfeeding as much I just throw in a “snacktainer” as we call it full of small bites for her, a sippy cup and I always have a stash of disposable bibs. Before 9 months I always remembered a nursing cover just in case she got hungry on the go or a little cooler with milk and a bottle. For formula feeding mamas there are some cool new products for storing and carrying formula that make feeding on the go easy!
4) Toys
We can’t leave the house without a toy or two to keep Maddie Grace occupied or I will have a fussy baby on my hands. Although she’s approaching toddlerhood little rattlers keep her occupied and she loves shaking them along to music in the car!
5) Outdoor Essentials
I always keep sunscreen and bug spray in my diaper bag because we use them all the time and it’s pretty terrible when we forget them! I try to find baby-friendly products that are in easy to take containers.
6) Mama Musts
On top of all the extra items for baby that need to be in a diaper bag moms still need all the stuff they would typically carry in a purse! I don’t leave home without at least my wallet, chapstick and sunglasses!
I'm always forgetting hand sanitizer, but wipes would be even better so they won't dry out my hands!
Yes give them a try!
Definitely lots of wipes! Some grocery stores don't have the wipes for your cart. I use cloth diapers, so I have to make sure I remember to bring a wetbag for those diapers! I've forgotten a few times and it's not pretty.
It's the worst when they are out! Yes that's a good one haha I even use wetbags just for when we go to the pool, etc.!
I need to get some sanitizing wipes for our diaper bag!
They def come in handy!
Your daughter is adorable. I remember those days (long ago) that I had to pack everything in the diaper bag. I wish we had sanitizing wipes back then. #client
Thank you so much! They do come in handy!
Great checklist! I second all the recs, plus when my baby started eating solids I also had to pack a placement and bowl/fork/spoon for eating at restaurants. The list never ends!
Oh, the diaper bag days! I don't miss it, but you definitely have this down to a science. Great job.
