This week is my kids spring break. Now – that might not seem like a big deal to some. In fact, it doesn’t even hypothetically sound like a big deal to me. My almost 4 year old goes 3 half days a week and my 2 year old goes 2 half days a week. One week off should be no big deal – right? Wrong.
Here’s the thing – both of my kids are used to their school routine and all the other activities they usually do that aren’t going on this week. They love that social interaction time, having a teacher with a stricter personality than me, and having teachers who are better at teaching than me. I don’t have kids that want to just zone out in front of the TV all day. Both of my kids want to be doing organized activities constantly. Whether reading books, doing a craft, doing puzzles, etc. – this is why they both thrive in a school setting. And if I don’t have hands on things for them to be doing, they fight with each other and tear apart my house. It might not seem like the amount of time they are in school would make a big difference around our house but it really does – just ask my almost 4 year old who has been acting out for attention all week.
My lifesaver this week has been the Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet. With 3 kids, 1 a newborn who is always nursing or wants to be held, I can’t be doing organized activities with each one all the time. The Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet on Amazon FreeTime Unlimited mode provides those hands on activities and mental stimulation that my kids need. Plus it gives me the ability to look after the baby, or clean up from the messes my kids made throughout the day.
What makes this tablet really stand out in terms of being a kids tablet is the Amazon FreeTime Unlimited feature. I try not to be a helicopter mom but the thought of my young kids being able to access anything on the internet is terrifying. Amazon FreeTime Unlimited not only restrains them just to that feature on the tablet which is made for kids, but it provides so much for them to do! When you set up the tablet you put in their age and when on the Amazon FreeTime Unlimited mode the tablet pulls up games, books, and shows that are age appropriate for them. It’s easy to use, even for my 2 year old, and so much fun! I also love the Parent Dashboard, which can be accessed on any browser, and has things like Learn First, Bedtime and Discussion Cards, and I love that the tablet comes with a 2 year worry free guarantee because we all know how little kids like to test things.
This spring break has definitely been an eye opener to how our summer is going to be. I think with my kids I will be developing a schedule of activities each day for them to do and have one of those activities be time on Amazon FreeTime Unlimited on their Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablets. What do you do to occupy your preschooler during these breaks? I’d love to hear more about it below!
