Well, last week I almost forgot about Tips and Tricks Thursdays. We were getting ready to leave for our trip, and I was shoving things in suitcases, putting clothes on the baby, and wrote the post in about 5 minutes. So this week I wanted to stay on the same topic — blogging. Specifically how to increase your page views. I’m still not the world’s biggest blogger, but I’ve learned a few tips and tricks during my time that I would love to share with everyone. Can’t wait to read what all of you have to share this week!
Tips and Tricks for Increasing Your Pageviews
1. Share pictures within your posts on Pinterest. All of your pictures (at least all the good ones). Use key words that will lead people to your posts when searching Pinterest, and make sure your caption says something that will make people want to click through that pin to your blog. You would be surprised – some of my posts I didn’t think were as interesting have been pinned 10x more than those that I thought were amazing. Using all forms of social media are a great way to give your blog exposure, but Pinterest is the best.
2. Save your pictures with descriptive captions before uploading them. My computer saves all pictures as IMG_(random numbers). I quickly go through and add a caption that sums up what that picture is before I upload it to Blogger. This helps increase what searches my post will pop up on in Google and places my pictures in a better position to come up when people search Google Images.
3. Submit your links to Reddit. This is hands down one of the best way to up your pageviews. Once your link is submitted, people can vote up your link gaining you some major exposure and introducing new readers to your blog.
4. Utilize LinkedWithin. If you don’t know what Linked Within is, scroll to the bottom of this post. The thumbnails suggesting what other posts you may enjoy is powered by Linked Within (feel free to click on some of those while you’re at it). This encourages readers to click through and read more posts, upping your pageviews. It’s free and easy to set up so there’s no point not to use it.
Why are pageviews important? Many companies are going to want to know your pageviews before sponsoring or collaborating with you. Also, many blogger programs want to know this when you apply for those programs, and most have a minimum that they require. Plus it helps with your personal satisfaction.
