Nothing like getting back to the swing of things after a week and a half of a little break, right? We had a rocky start yesterday with a child who didn’t want to nap and instead wanted to throw tantrums all afternoon until she finally passed out curled up next to me on the couch and then was the sweetest little angel ever.
We had a great time ringing in 2016 over the weekend. New Year’s Eve was the night Tom and I met (in the middle of Bourbon Street…) so it’s always a special day for us. We decided to attempt to eat somewhere a little nicer to celebrate, and since we always bring Maddie Grace with us (finding babysitters is hard y’all) we figured that maybe going around 3:00 when it wouldn’t be as crowded would be a good idea. We were pleasantly surprised to find out we were right – the restaurant we picked was empty, we were able to eat food somewhere nicer than Chick-Fil-A that we greatly enjoyed, and Maddie Grace was even really well behaved and we definitely didn’t feel like she was annoying anyone around us. We were also able to grab ice cream and just hang out around the square having fun. We finished up the night with pajamas and Netflix watching and not sure there could have been a better way to welcome the new year.
New Year’s Day we had a lazy morning (the best type) followed by lunch with some college friends. We then decided we should get outside for a little hike that my brother joined us for and we walked about 4 miles, which is a lot given how much I’ve been walking lately. It was cold and grey but still it felt good to start the new year off with some exercising and being outdoors as a family.
Saturday was Georgia’s bowl game so we had some friends come over and watch it with us, even though it turned into mostly playing with the kids and barely watching any of the game. Maddie Grace loved having another kid to play with (mom and dad were starting to get boring) and thankfully Georgia won. We went out for a quick dinner that night and ended the night early with pajamas and netflix… again.
Sunday I started off the day wearing very little in the freezing cold. Typical Sunday morning, right? It was for a good cause – maternity pictures that I can’t wait to share with everyone (check my Instagram for a sneak peek). The rest of the day was full of play time at the park and getting work done around the house.
I’m going into this week feeling very refreshed and ready to take it on! I’m pretty sure 2016 is going to be the best year yet for our family and we made it our goal to cut out the sources of negativity in our life (no one needs drama and attention-seekers) and stay focused on just having the best time possible with each other! Plus we are having a BABY in just like a few (couple?) weeks and I don’t think there is anything better in life than that. I hope everyone else was able to figure out what they need to start off this new year right!
You always post the sweetest pictures! I love the one of her sitting on your bump!!
Thank you!!! Yes I think she will miss sitting on it soon! Happy new year!
