Valentine’s Day is upon us! The Valentines outfits for children in these pictures are all from Crazy8, one of my favorite places to buy kids clothes from! We had so much fun exploring Fort Pulaski in Savannah, GA recently where I took these pictures of them in their Valentine’s outfits.
But what is love… [baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me, no more]. Sorry for getting that song stuck in your head today but it’s almost Valentine’s Day so it seems appropriate to talk about all things love. I’ve also been watching Frozen on repeat lately (I’m sure there are other moms of 2 year olds who can relate) in which they talk a lot about what love is and some of the things they’ve talked about have really resonated with me.
Love is an open door. Yes Anna sang this when she just fell in love with a prince who turned out to be evil, but it’s true. Love is having an open door to all the people who come into your life and really in the world. Always being there for them no matter what. Being open to helping a neighbor out because of the love in your heart.
Some people are worth melting for. I think this both means some people are worth making sacrifices for out of love and also in the sense sometimes you melt for people in you fall for them and that leaves you vulnerable. But it’s worth it to be vulnerable to experience love!
Love is putting someone else’s needs before yours. This is something I think all moms can definitely relate to. We put the needs of our little one’s first because we love them in a way only other moms can understand. But it’s also true in the love you have for friends and significant others. It’s when you prioritize helping a friend out over your own comfort. Sacrificing your own career for you spouse’s. I think this is also saying that actions speak louder than words – instead of just saying you love people you can show them that you love them. That’s how love works and how strong relationships are formed!
So I’m celebrating this Valentine’s day not just by cherishing the love I have for my kids and husband, but by thinking of ways that I can show love to all people on a daily basis. Oh and by giving one of my awesome readers a $50 Crazy8 giveaway! Enter using the form below and good luck!
