Is there anything more magical than a Christmas Tree? The answer is no. Especially for a toddler. Maddie Grace is obsessed with our tree this year. She wants it plugged in at all times, and gets really excited to show it to people. “Bubby look at the Christmas tree!” she proudly proclaims every morning. She also very meticulously rearranges the ornaments. For some reason she thinks certain branches should have 2-3 ornaments and some should have 0. MG also gets very excited about the star on the top of the tree and discussing that with people.
As a kid I loved putting up the Christmas tree. It’s something my family did every year on the day after Thanksgiving. We always put an angel I made in preschool on the top of the tree, and filled it up with our childhood ornaments, and random other ornaments we picked up on trips and such. In the background would play Christmas music and there was usually some hot chocolate involved too.
I love making this a tradition with my family too. This year we picked up our tree at Kroger, who had a great selection to choose from. We set it up at our house using decorations and accessories we got from Kroger as well. I even found the prettiest star for the top of the tree. I love the way the gold ribbon and pearl strand look together. It gives it a touch of class before adding all the kids ornaments.
And of course the best part of having a decorated tree is taking pictures with it! Well for me at least. I loved grabbing shots of our family decorating the tree, but what I love even more are the shots with the bokeh of the tree behind us. It’s pretty easy to get this look once you have your tree up. Just get your subject a short distance in front of the tree, and position yourself and the camera just several feet in front of them. Set your camera to about f1.8 and shoot away!
So if you haven’t put up a tree yet, what are you waiting for? If you live in Atlanta just head over to Kroger and you can grab everything you need for your tree in one spot! Do you have any special traditions surrounding the Christmas tree? Would love to hear more below!
