I haven’t done any type of monthly update on Tripp in a while. And the answer as to why might be obvious. This kid is in full crazy toddler mode. And he’s starting to drop naps. I hardly ever get a chance to sit down. But hanging out with this kid all day every day is so much fun.
So let’s backtrack. Right when Tripp turned a year old (actually maybe a month or two before) he entered into a really difficult stage. He was just so incredibly fussy. He always wanted something. Always was trying to grab whatever his sister had. But he couldn’t communicate. And basically there was a lot of crying and whining by both of us. I stopped leaving the house for a while because he would throw fits when we would go places. Screaming the whole time at the mall. Flailing himself. It was a disaster.
A few months have passed and I’m really glad that Tripp has mostly come out of this stage, now that he is a 16 month old baby. Overall (obviously there are exceptions) he is a really chill kid. He likes to laugh, he likes to play, and sometimes he is still clingy and just wants mommy to hold him. He enjoys having books read to him and will point at the different things we talk about in them. He loves to bang on the piano and listen to music. He doesn’t really love it when his sister grabs his hands and tries to make him dance with her though. Tripp is my sweet bubby boy who likes to hug stuffed animals and play with princess dolls with his sister (he seriously can tell you which is Belle and which is Cinderella). But don’t worry, he loves cars and trucks too. Oh and animals. As a 16 month old baby, Tripp love love loves animals and being outside. And his favorite thing in the world is probably eating. He’s gotten good at telling me exactly what he wants to eat as well. It’s usually “”cheeeeeese”, “peeeza”, “bar bar” or “cracthers”. There’s a stupid song that both the kids like that goes “johnny johnny, yes papa? Eating sugar, no papa. Telling lies, no papa. Open your mouth, ha ha ha” and Tripp always belts out HA HA HA on it and it’s the cutest thing ever. And he loves to play peek a boo. Tripp’s smile seriously melts my heart and I just adore his silly, snuggly, self.
With Tripp being all over the place these days, we need a diaper that can keep up with his crazy self. My diaper of choice is the Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers and I always use the Huggies One & Done Wipes with them. These diapers are the only ones that we experience no leaks with, and that stay on him really well. I also love that with the wipes only 1 wipe comes out at a time and that’s all I need to get the job done. I find the best deal on Huggies at Family Dollar (find yours here) and right now you can save $2 which is amazing with this coupon!
If you’ve had a 16 month old baby before I would love to hear your best tips for handling tantrums below!!
Ohhh this tantrumy stage is so tough! No advice, but I can send you some booze?? Also I want a video of this song, it sounds so cute
Tantrums are hard! Hang in there, I am all about spankings, time-out and taking things away.
He’s such a cutie!! The tantrums are so hard! My daughter was a breeze compared to my son now. He will literally throw down.
Tantrums are tough at that age, but you got this!
Cannot believe how big he is getting! Such a sweet boy!
Oh my gosh girl, you could be talking about my little man here. We are in the thick of his clingy and tantrum-stage and I literally can not not only sit down, but take my eyes off him for even a min so I feel your pain!
He is just the cutest! I’m in that phase right now, where they can’t communicate, and it’s so tough!
